Timbers used - Ancient Redgum, Sheoak, Redgum and a Stringybark backing. Aluminum inlays added . Finished in an all natural tung and citrus oil blend and a coat of wax for protection and shine. The black coloured wood used is a much prized and rare wood known as Ancient Redgum. This Ancient Redgum has been radio carbon dated and is said to be between 5,000 and 50,000 years old, at the end of the last ice age these mighty majestic Redgums were fallen from erosion caused by the melting ice and buried in the channel which is the River Murray. Over thousands of years they have become fossilised and have taken on a beautiful deep black colour, which I guess you could say is Australia's version of Ebony. Luckily for us quarry operations over the years have exposed these amazing fossilised Redgums and have allowed us to utilise this amazing wood.
